The Society for Economic Botany

Fostering research and education on the past, present, and future uses of plants by people.

About SEB

The Society for Economic Botany (SEB) is for people exploring the uses of plants and the relationships among plants, cultures, and our environment. In June 2023, the Society’s name will change to the Society for Ethnobotany. Ethnobotany, termed “the science of survival,” encompasses a wide variety of studies of plants’ many roles in human affairs.
